Green Tea May Ward Off Weight Gain

Keep extra pounds at bay and block fat by drinking lots of green tea. A recent article on WebMD describes preliminary results from lab tests that show decreased gain on weight and fat in mice that ate food laced with green tea extract.

Obesity can lead to fat build up in liver, resulting in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease. Mice that exhibited fat build up in their liver due to obesity showed decreased levels of fat after consuming green tea extract.

Green tea also lowered cholesterol and triglyceride levels in mice with obesity gene.

How much green tea you need to drink to get all the benefits? Approximately 7 cups of tea per day. While this may sound a lot, remember that some doctors recommend drinking 8 glasses of water per day. Simply substitute water for green tea and you'll be on the way to a healthier you!

Study Shows Consuming Hibiscus Tea Lowers Blood Pressure

"In a subgroup analysis, 30 volunteers with the highest systolic blood pressure readings at the start of the study (129 or above) were found to have a greater response to hibiscus tea drinking compared to placebo drinkers. Their systolic blood pressure went down by 13.2 points, diastolic blood pressure went down by 6.4 points, and mean arterial pressure went down by 8.7 points."
